"Deborah Crooks pours stiff shots of brains, soul and guts into her compositions...."-Flavorpill

The San Francisco artist's lyric-driven and soul-wise music has drawn comparison to Lucinda Williams, Chrissie Hynde and Natalie Merchant. Songs from her first EP, 2003's "5 Acres" were included on several compilation Cds (including the 2004 RockerGirl Magazine Discoveries Cd) while her 2008 full-length Cd    "Adding Water to the Ashes" has garnered appreciative reviews.
"Wonderful work," noted KKUP Dj Don Campau of the disc.
Deborah's songwriting is backed by a firm commitment to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. She's studied the form for more than a decade, traveling to India twice to deepen her practice.
"I wish everyone in the world the peace of mind I've learned from yoga and want to help make that wish come true by sharing with others as much as I know."
Deborah is currently planning a Indie Abundance™: Mindfulness Tour of the Southwest for 2010 with fellow songwriter Jean Mazzei. Contact Deborah @ [email protected] for more information.
On the recording front: Deborah will be heading back into the studio in December to record new material for a follow-up to 'Adding Water to the Ashes.' Likewise, Deborah released a new EP of material co-written with Alex Walsh called "The Crooks/Walsh Blues," in September.
